Our Story
Waves Apart is a Nashville-based rock duo featuring Ryan Johnson, formerly of Chuck Shaffer Picture Show, on vocals and guitar, and Chris Vest, a founding member of Framing Hanley, on drums.
Johnson, known for his powerful vocals and dynamic stage presence, has been featured on SiriusXM’s Octane and has shared the stage with notable acts like Bush, Papa Roach, and Halestorm. Vest, with multiple Billboard-charting singles and international touring experience, brings explosive energy behind the kit. Together, they combine their experience to deliver a fresh yet familiar sound that’s set to make waves.

Accolades
Shortly after launching onto the scene, Waves Apart's debut single, Nightmare, was featured on Sirius XM’s Test Drive. After an overwhelming outpouring of positive feedback, the song was placed into full rotation on Octane in addition to several other radio stations around the country.

Our Mission
Waves Apart exists to create songs rooted in real experience, giving shape and sound to feelings that are often left unspoken. We write honestly about what we've lived through, using those stories to help others feel seen, understood, and less alone. Our mission is to create music that connects deeply, meets people where they are, and offers something to hold onto when words fall short.
